Kimberly Bryant, The Founder of Black Girls Code

While the Civil Rights Movement was in full swing, Bryant was born and raised by a single mother in Memphis, Tennessee. Bryant established Black Girls Code in 2011 when her daughter expressed an interest in studying computer programming. Black Girls Code is a nonprofit organization with an emphasis on educating African American girls in technology and computer programming.
