Dr. Lauren Esposito is the Assistant Curator and Schlinger Chair of Arachnology at the California Academy of Sciences. Esposito is also the co-founder/director of a science, education, and conservation nonprofit called Islands & Seas, and the co-creator of 500 Queer Scientists, a visibility campaign for LGBTQ+ people working in STEM careers. In this fascinating and visual talk, she breaks down the curative properties of scorpion neurotoxin and explains why these much-maligned arachnids should be seen as nothing less than evolutionary marvels.
