SD2, Local STEM Nonprofit, Adds Two Members to Board

San Diego, CA: San Diego Squared (SD2), a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering underrepresented students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) is pleased to announce the addition of two new board members to their already innovative group of local leaders, Alex Bolante and Darin M. Lippoldt.

“We are thrilled to welcome new, high-caliber leaders to our Board to continue our mission of empowering underrepresented students in the San Diego community,” remarked Bill Rastetter, Founder of San Diego Squared and Chairman of the Board.

Alex Bolante, Managing Director, Cyber & Strategic Risk Services, Deloitte & Touche LLP
Alex Bolante is a National Managing Director in Cyber & Strategic Risk Services at Deloitte & Touche LLP. He specializes in helping clients protect their most valuable assets, build trust with their customers, deliver direct cost savings, and recapture revenue by unlocking the value of digital identity. A former managing director at another Big Four consulting firm and information security architect at a global systems integrator, Alex brings more than 20 years of experience advising corporate clients across multiple industries on becoming stronger, faster, more innovative, and resilient in the face of persistent cyber threats.

Alex is excited to serve on the San Diego Squared Board for many reasons, but none can surpass his passion for connecting underrepresented students to mentors and resources in a meaningful and impactful way.

“The future of cybersecurity, cloud, IoT, AI, and machine learning analytics depends on STEM education, and I hope to help guide students’ personal growth and accelerate their path to careers in technology,” says Alex.

Darin M. Lippoldt, Chief Legal Officer, Neurocrine Biosciences
Darin Lippoldt has served as the Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at Neurocrine Biosciences since 2014 and oversees all legal, intellectual property, and compliance matters. Passionate about STEM, he also serves as the chair of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) General Counsels’ Committee for this current year.

Before joining Neurocrine, he served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary at Volcano Corporation and was Associate General Counsel at Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. before that.

He is excited to bring his life and career experiences to the SD2 Board to help drive change for underrepresented students. “I’m so impressed with what SD2 does for the San Diego community and students with diverse backgrounds,” says Darin. “I’m so proud to be included in these efforts to drive change, and I hope to continue to leverage SD2’s relationship with Neurocrine to expand our pipeline of diverse talent.”
